Google Playstore includes many fraudulent mining applications that are downloadable and ready to use

While the mining crypto talks about money, most people may not fully understand the technical issues behind it. It is likely that many people are looking for an easy solution to “profit” from mining without having to have the necessary technical skills. A recent report claims that Google found many fraudulent mining applications available for download and use on PlayStation.

These applications are said to have been on the platform for some time, some of which download a large number of files. This is a bit strange in the context of Google’s “strict policy” that had previously removed crypto bills and mining applications. These malicious applications have various methods to trick people. Some have the ability to make crypto, but the removable crypto does not provide “ways” to distribute money to the user account, so all crypto users go to application developers instead.

Some may not actually carry out mining activities

Some of them can’t actually carry out mining activities and only display ads. Although this may seem “less threatening”, it actually has a great potential for bigger problems. Nowadays, many online ads are being captured by cyber criminals who place malicious code on them, which will be transferred to the “device”with just one click.

Other fraud practices claim that, as with Bitcoin and Ethereum, it can extract currencies from crypto that could not be actually removed. Such practices target people who think that all crypto currencies can be won through mining activities, while in fact some cryptos, such as XRP, Cardano and Tether, are actually “non-extractable”.

As the industry evolves more and more people may be victims of such practices

Such malicious programs were actually reported in a report published by ESET researchers who conducted a study on cryptography fraud in Android in late 2017. And when the crypto currency gains more awareness, more people can become victims of such practices.

Although each crypto money enthusiast is truly responsible for their own investment decisions, as a Google PlayStore provider, it has the responsibility to free the security of its platforms from applications that could harm users.
