The more I read the article, the more I realize that scientific research and technological innovation will be subject to the revolution and the wind of the “change” that is impetuous in the world of economy, business and finance? Well it seems so, thanks to open innovation – open innovation – possible on the blockchain.

A decentralized technology, where no one “commands”, and which will open the closed gates of the academic world and centralized institutions, often more tied to politics and personal interests than to the advancement of knowledge.

The blockchain, in fact, can help the research to be open and transparent, to reward those who can really solve the most complex problems, and to make sure that the funds that are destined to today only to those who can boast the right references, are instead accessible to everyone. Because there are brilliant minds that do not have access to academic institutions that have always been perched on old and immutable positions and that are not at all open to the aforementioned “change”.

Another problem that the decentralized technology of the blockchain is able to solve is that of the fragmentation and dispersion in thousands of streams of funds for research. That too often results in a huge waste. The decentralized approach, on the other hand, encourages collaboration on a global level, and allows the exchange of information and knowledge without compromising the possibility of rewarding those who reach the set goal.

The solution is the creation of a global platform, Matryx, which “runs” on the blockchain and which allows everyone, professionals and amateurs, to participate in the great challenges of our time.

Matryx works like this: through a simulation of virtual reality, the problems are posted on the platform that, from time to time, the various subjects need to solve. These problems – such as the design of a spacecraft – are “auctioned off” and, through a collaborative competition mechanism, successive rounds are developed to solve the problem and provide the answer. The blockchain allows to trace and identify with certainty the subjects who have solved – partly or completely – the problem and reward them for this.

The payment takes place with the token – the cryptocurrency – of the Matryx platform, which therefore acquires a value within the system and subsequently also outside.

In short, a new frontier of open and shared research that can bring unpredictable results.

In my opinion today it has become necessary, vital, to adopt new schemes, new ways of rewarding and compensating for the work carried out by brilliant minds but unknown to most people.
