The Greek island of Santorini is a popular tourist destination in summer but also in winter it can be very enjoyable (and very economical) to plan a visit for a few days. Four days are enough to be able to see this beautiful place quite well.

Its sea, its history, its characteristic architecture bring many tourists every year.

There are many things to see and these are my suggestions.

1) Oia village.

Oia is the most famous of all villages of island grece Santorini. It is known throughout the world for its quiet life and fantastic sunsets, architecture unique traditional, blue-domed churches and is certainly the most beautiful and picturesque village of Santorini. The beauty of Oia is unsurpassed. In fact, it is almost impossible to describe in words!

2) Sunsets.

Santorini is famous for its beautiful sunsets. There are plenty of places on the island where you can admire unforgettable sunsets. One of these is Fira the capital of Santorini . One of the best places to watch the sunset is in front of the Orthodox Cathedral. Naturally, we have very appreciated the sunsets at nearby Oia. Every day a different show.

3) Donkeys.

You can not miss these gentle animals carrying materials but also tourists …. Slow walk along the narrow and steep streets of the villages of Santorini. To photograph absolutely!

4) Beaches.

There are many beaches to visit in Santorini but I will point out the famous Red Beach, near the archaeological site of Akrotiri, and the striking of Perissa beach.

Practical info.

I visited this island in the winter and I think it is useful to have some practical information that can affect your stay. In general, what you find in the guides, in fact, is referred to the summer.

Santorini is reached from Athens with Ryanair flights that cost very little. The airport is about 10 minutes from the city of Fira (where I recommend staying especially if you go in winter) and if you do not take a car at the airport, you have to take a taxi (about 24 euros the ride).

The Pulman departing from Fira are very convenient if you want to reach the various places and resorts of the island. The cost of a rental car is around 30 euros a day.

In the winter you find about 80% all the various closed shops but you can still survive especially if you choose as the main resort town the main town of the island, Fira, where you still find all the main services available. Unfortunately in winter there is almost no chance to visit the other islands: Ferries do not do this daily service.

Always in the winter, pay attention to public service schedules, after 16.30 – 17.00 you may have difficulty.

If you are lucky and the weather attends your stay, it will still be very enjoyable

All photos are mine. Thanks for your time!
